I received an email from Freddie who wrote:
Are there any trading skills you haven’t mastered or think you can improve? When do we know if we have all the right skills or is learning trading never-ending?
Although I regard myself as good at what I do, I will not label myself as the master or the best because I believe improvements can always be made. I always seek to better myself, and that is the only way to grow. T. Harv Eker once said, “If you are not growing, you are dying.” I couldn’t agree more. Even Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong talked about this in this year’s National Day Rally. He said, “We will never arrive. Because if we ever arrive, we will stop innovating and improving. We have to keep moving, that is the only way to grow.”
Learning is never-ending. There is always something to learn and another mountain to climb. The market constantly changes. It does not adapt to a trader’s methodology, it is the trader who must adapt to market conditions. This is what keeps my team of analysts and me on our toes. We are always at the forefront of breaking news and geo-political events since it benefits us as well as our members.
I believe your trading results will indicate whether you acquired the skills to trade profitably. Numbers do not lie. You need to keep records to break records. Keep tabs on all your trades to learn from your mistakes. Success teaches you nothing. Failures teach you everything, as long as you recognize it and do not give up. Abraham Lincoln said, “If I have ten hours to chop down a tree, I will spend nine hours sharpening my axe.” Learn and practice purposefully and conscientiously. As long as you persist, you will reach your goals, whatever they may be.
To your success as a profitable trader,
Mario
